A Note from the Editor
I’m so glad you’ve visited Compass & Key today, and I hope you and your loved ones are staying safe and healthy.
The coronavirus pandemic has hit the tourism industry particularly hard, and it is still uncertain as to what travel will look like as countries begin to reopen. I hope this list of resources will help you navigate how to plan future vacations.
We will travel again, and it will be more important than ever to support communities that rely on tourism.
How to Use Compass & Key Travel Guides
I am keeping all walking and cycling itineraries as they were pre-pandemic until it makes sense to update them. In the meantime, please keep the following in mind as you peruse our destination guides:
Reconfirm Business Hours
Many shops and restaurants have limited hours as destinations begin to reopen. Cultural destinations, such as museums and theatres, might be closed entirely, or open by ticketed entry. Check the website or social media pages to confirm hours before you go.
Focus on the Outdoors
You’ll find parks, gardens, and trails featured in all of my destination guides, and in most cases, these outdoors spaces remain open. Connecting with nature is incredibly important during this time, so I encourage you to get outside when it is safe to do so.
Book with Flexibility
Most hotels have updated cancellation policies to be more flexible, but make sure to read the terms & conditions before booking future travel. Given the situation is ever-changing, you’ll have peace of mind knowing that your trip can be adjusted or cancelled quickly.
