THE HIGH COUNTRY AWAITS
The Sierra Nevada high country of Yosemite is not to be missed. In the heart of this area, Olmsted Point is a short nature trail offering one of the best panoramic views. Here, the impact of ancient glaciers comes to life in the grooved surfaces of the rock.
To reach the point, you'll drive along Tioga Road, which follows sections of a Native American trail as well as a late 19th-century mining road. Today, it is the primary access point for high country adventures. Plan at least a full day to explore the high country, as it will take 1-2 hours just to reach Olmsted Point from Wawona or Yosemite Valley via Tioga Road. Further west of Olmsted Point, don't miss the beauty of Tenaya Lake and exploring the many hikes leaving from Tuolumne Meadows.
