WHERE PAST AND FUTURE COLLIDE
Escape the buzz of Santa Cruz to the residential barrio of La Macarena, where time-honored traditions are strong but leave room for the next generation. As you wander, you will stumble across artist communities and modern boutiques interspersed with ancient churches and convents. La Macarena was created when Seville's defensive walls were built in the 12th century, but has not always thrived. This working class neighborhood has emerged from its past of decaying buildings and crime to become a vibrant destination.
For this itinerary, you can imagine what local life was like through the centuries. To discover the treasures of La Macarena, wandering is highly encouraged.
